Contributor Guidelines

The NACD BoardTalk blog is an ideal platform for hosting discussions that educate and empower directors. Our editorial team welcomes your idea for timely content that serves our members.

Contributions must be exclusive to NACD BoardTalk—original work not previously published anywhere else. Our editors reserve the right to reject content that has previously been published on any platform.

Suggested modes of contribution include:

  • Co-authoring expert commentary with NACD staff that complements your company’s insights with our organization’s research.
  • Authoring exclusive, action-oriented blogs that directors can immediately implement in the boardroom.
  • Presentation of new research from your company with fresh, NACD-exclusive analysis that will amplify its reach to our more than 23,000 director members.

Blogs should be between 600 and 1,000 words in length.

All content should be submitted with a high-resolution, color headshot. You are also encouraged to include supporting graphics for your content, though we do reserve the right to reject charts that our editors do not feel support the content. All graphics will be edited by our graphic design team to meet our quality standards and to comply with our branding toolkit.

NACD editors reserve the right to edit all copy for accuracy, clarity, and length. A proof of the edited article will be emailed to the author for final approval prior to being published to the web.

We maintain a robust editorial calendar for blog content. As such, we will work closely with you to ensure that the deadline provided to you is met. Please provide content two weeks in advance of your desired or agreed-upon publishing date.

By submitting your blog to NACD BoardTalk, you assign copyright ownership to NACD, unless otherwise agreed to in writing with NACD. This assignment of ownership shall vest upon NACD’s publication of the blog; all rights shall revert to you if NACD does not publish the blog within 12 months of submission. We do not guarantee the publishing of unsolicited material. You acknowledge that you are the sole author of the blog content and that the blog does not violate the intellectual property rights of others. As the copyright owner of the blog contribution, NACD reserves the right to edit all copy for accuracy, clarity, length, and adherence to the NACD style guide and publish the finished piece in any medium. Published contributors are entitled to a complimentary copy of the issue in which their work appears.
